CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS
It’s Christmas time in the city….
And also in the triad!
There seems to be a lull where feeling that holiday spirit seems to take a hold of everyone but you… If you feel this way, you are not alone! Many of us relate to feeling a drag around the holidays instead of festive cheer. Here are a few traditions that help us get out of that holiday hiccup.
1. Baking Christmas Cookies
Baking Grandma’s secret recipe, or even Tollhouse chocolate chip around this time of year puts warmth into your soul and into your tummy. Decorating sugar cookies is a great activity for both adults and kids.
2. Looking at Christmas Lights
One of my favorite family traditions is getting hot chocolate, loading up in the car, and looking at local neighborhoods decorated with whimsical lights and decorations. TangleWood Festival of Lights, in Clemmons, is putting on quite a light show! For kids and loved ones who haven’t been, what a special way to make a lasting memory.
3. Watching Christmas Movies
Sitting down with loved ones and enjoying a charming Christmas film is a seasonal must! A few of our favorites include:
Elf, “Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?”
Home Alone, “KEVIN”
Any and every Hallmark Christmas movie-
Movies are great for cuddles and snuggles and yummy holiday treats.
4. Putting up the Christmas tree
Christmas tree farms are on every corner, finding that perfect tree is possible! Or, places such as Costco and Sams offer inexpensive reusable trees that you can put up every year.
5. Being Intentional With Others
One way to know that you’re being beneficial to the world this time of year is to serve. Volunteering for non-profits, serving breakfast at a shelter, or even shoveling your neighbor’s driveway; all of these actions show thoughtfulness and care. Serving is not for you – bringing the true meaning of this time of year to light.
We hope that these traditions help bring you and your families joy and festivity. Christmas – what a great time to reflect on the many blessings in life.
Until next time!
