Owner's Story:

We love the character of this house. There are not any other houses like it. When we purchased the house in 1983 it pretty much looked like it did in 1920. Learning about the history of our house from our neighbors was so cool. Our neighbor to the left was born in the upstairs bedroom. Her father gave the property next door to her and her husband when they got married. The kitchen had been updated in the 1950s, the yard was a jungle. The couple we bought it from never went up stairs. There was a wood stove in the middle of the dining room. We had oil heat and a window unit A/C in the living room. (We moved in Aug. 3rd and slept on the floor in the living room with the A/C for the whole month.) The first winter we were there the wind came through the cracks in the old wooden windows. That spring we replaced all the windows with insulated thermo pane double hung West Windows. The next project was to put a bathroom upstairs. We combined 2 rooms to make a master bedroom and bath. The kitchen remodel was next. After it was done our 5 yo daughter said she wanted the painted yellow cabinets back. Moving the wood stove out of the middle of the dining room was next. We replaced the wood stove with a pellet stove in the corner. In 1998 we did the addition. We added a downstairs master bedroom and bath and a playroom and bath upstairs. It is a perfect place to raise a family. The yard is huge. Our three girls were outside all the time. It was always the neighborhood hang out. Making forts, riding bikes, hide and seek, fires in the fire pit, roller skating in the drive way. Our house was the place for family get togethers . We have plenty of room for out of town family. The play room upstairs was the place for birthday parties, sleepovers and girl scouts and youth group meetings. We became very involved in our children’s schools. We have attended 14 field days at Vienna. My first two girls went to Mt. Tabor High School. Both of them were athletic trainers for the football team, so we never missed a game. Our youngest got to go to the new Reagan High School. She played volleyball and lacrosse and sang in the choir so we spent a lot of time at Reagan. We also loved going to football games and working the concession stand. Pfafftown is a very close community. Lots of parental involvement in the schools, plus great community churches. We have loved living here.

Come by to see Jenny on Sunday, July 17th, 2 - 4 pm for your very own personal tour. She will be there to answer any questions.
