Springtime is finally here in North Carolina and it’s about time! Summer will be here before we know it, too! We’re all excited and ready to live it up outdoors for the next several months. But, before you break out the grill and hamburger patties, did you know that May is National Home Improvement Month? Take advantage of this glorious weather by knocking out that lingering list of projects so that your family can enjoy the coming season to the fullest.
In 2018, deck additions, room remodels and exterior door replacements reign supreme on the list of most profitable home improvements, so keep that in mind when choosing to allocate your budget towards major expenses.
Don’t get too overwhelmed, though! Take it easy by writing down a list of everything you want to work on inside and outside of your home. Then, begin checking off items starting with the smallest tasks first and working your way up to the most time-consuming ones. So, if your smoke detectors have been beeping, swap those batteries out before refinishing the kitchen cabinets!
Take into consideration your family’s schedule before beginning anything major. The month of May is the perfect time to hire a professional to tackle renovations or additions because the kids are still in school and you probably won’t be scheduling travel for another month or two. If you need to board your animals, kennels won’t be full yet, either.
A huge part of improving your home is crafting it to be as energy efficient as possible. This month, consider switching to eco-friendly lightbulbs, appliances and other environmentally conscious products. You’ll be thankful once those southern summer electric bills start rolling in!
May is the perfect time to get down to business on all of the things that have been being neglected in your home, as well as the changes you’ve been dreaming to make. Celebrate National Home Improvement Month by taking the time to take care of your greatest investment!
