Meet David Nishan: loan officer, banker, and one of Ashley Lay Real Estate's preferred lenders! You’ve probably seen him on our “Partners” page or even worked with him in the past. One of our favorite lenders is a part of Residential Mortgage Services.
David spends almost equal time in Winston and Greensboro but works from his home base office in Greensboro with his five-member team. Remember the days when you’d play outside in the dirt, barefoot in the grass, climbing the neighbor’s crab apple tree from sunup to sundown? Five Ways to Increase Your Home’s Value Before You Sell
Looking to sell your home? Not so fast! While Ashley Lay Real Estate CAN’T WAIT to list your property, we also want to make sure you receive the biggest return possible on your investment. So, before you put your home on the market, here are some tips to consider to help increase the value.
1. Make your home feel pretty—oh, so pretty!
Curb appeal is essential when it comes to selling a home in a highly competitive market. Your property needs to look inviting from the outside in order to draw buyers in. We recommend investing in professional landscaping services if you don’t have a green thumb, yourself. If you can’t, simply planting a few flowers and keeping the yard well-mowed should suffice. Have the home and driveway pressure washed for maximum vibrancy.
After you’ve tackled your home’s exterior, the best places to upgrade and update are the kitchen and bath. ...

Winston-Salem is a beautiful and exciting place to live, work and raise a family. However, many current and future residents have no idea that Winston is also rich in history! We have provided a brief history of the city we love and how it came to be!
Winston-Salem is home to almost 250,000 people and is the fifth largest city in North Carolina. However, nicknamed “Twin City” for its dual heritage, Winston comes from humble beginnings.
The town of Salem was established on behalf of the Moravian Church in 1766. Salem was originally a typical Moravian settlement congregation with the buildings centered around a public square, which is known as Salem Square today in Old Salem. Up until the Civil War era, only Moravians were permitted to live within the town limits of Salem.
In 1849, Salem inhabitants sold land to the newly formed Forsyth County for a county seat. Winston was formed as a separate town, named after Revolutionary War hero Joseph Winston. Work was done b. ...
